NiclAss
Version 0.0.7 Compatible with following game versions: 1.16x - 1.17x (works in 1.18pre but not recommended, update incoming) Early Access This Mod adds a lot of new ruins with different variants to the world gen, even containing translocators at surface level. If this mod is getting added after world creation, it can only affect chunks that are generated with the mod active. Overall ruin count: 206 Features: 90 detailed ruins Reworked all vanilla ruins, resulting in 116 new vanilla ruins Reintroduced span ruins to 1.17 (got removed in 1.17) Custom loot tables and vanilla lore items Translocators at surface level Vanilla friendly Server-side only 8 Megastructures Structures in different stone types One of my goals with this mod would be to let it be community driven and everyone suggests or add ideas/builds to it while still staying as close to vanilla as possible. That would result in frequent updates as well. Images: Community: I want to introduce to you a Vintage Story community called VintageStoryBuilders a bunch of players that really like the building in this game and just want to share their stuff about it and maybe even learn from each other feel free to drop by. Contributors: The following players helped me a lot to keep the mod going and contributed awesome builds and ideas to the mod! Huge thanks! I'm always looking for more members for the builder team, so if you are interested, be sure to msg me. I finally found some time to port this moddb entry to the forum, I will play around a bit and adjust some stuff on the go. BearWrestler
This mod looks seriously cool. Nothing like more variety in worldgen! Do these appear more frequently than vanilla ruins? I wouldn't want the wilderness feeling of the game to be ruined or to find them in a very regular pattern that looks artificial. Though I wouldn't mind finding a cluster of them somewhere, as if there was an ancient ruined city... as long as those are extremely rare. Have you considered adding underground ruins? Either surface buildings buried by time, or actual underground constructions (troglodyte houses, dungeons, etc...) that are likely to be in better shape due to protection from the elements. As I have reworked all vanilla variants and added new ones their spawnchances are the same as vanilla. But I added new types of ruins and larger ones those spawning in basicly increase the overall ruin appearance in the game so it's slightly increased. (this might change for 1.18) Patterns or similar ruins can appear but the variety is increased by a lot there are 206 ruins to choose from and every one of them can spawn in different stone types. I want to point out that as of version v0.0.7 the loot of ruins is unbalanced so its pretty op loot. And you can find board and stone piles in ruins. This will be fixed and all loottables revamped aswell as all boards removed. So atm for the best experience wait for the next update for the upcoming 1.18 stable version. If you like op loot feel free to play it now 4 hours ago, BearWrestler said: Have you considered adding underground ruins? Some surface ruins contain underground parts like cellars or small dungeon rooms. One the builders for this mod is working on a big dungeon similar to the story dungeon in 1.18 but spawning it in seems like an issue atm... I'm concentrating on surface stuff atm there are plenty of cool underground structure mods out there. https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/5215 This Mod has procedual generated dungeons with surface entrances. The mod is from a @Th3Dilli you should check it out. Will be updated for 1.18 soon I need to just finish this mod first then I can look at the structures in th3dungeon mod ^^
BearWrestler
Thanks for all the info. Noted about the overpowered loot . You're right, that underground mod looks cool and extensible. Although since it focuses on dungeons, some stuff that's technically underground but is really more surface such as troglodyte houses and monuments (think Petra) in cliffsides or canyons might still be up your alley. I dunno if you visited ruins of Roman cities. Usually there's not much standing above ground level besides a few columns and wall pieces, but it's really cool to see the old paved roads, the remains of the water systems and baths, and details like the cuts in stone at the entrance of shops to allow for wooden sliding doors. That and mosaic floors of course, with various decorative and utility symbols. Those might be a nice inspiration for the occasional large-scale ruin that might be quite visible when looking down from heights, but doesn't obstruct the scenery much vertically. They can be very overgrown, even with tree in places, so the map doesn't start looking too urban. Looking forward for the 1.18 update!
