There should really be a distinction between javelins and spears, with spears actually useful in melee - long reach, significant knockback, best primary weapon for dedicated fighting, maybe balanced by minimum hit distance, long draw animation, unwieldiness in tight corridors. As is, they are just annoying earlygame weapon.
Maybe the clouds shouldn't render the faces that connect to other parts of the cloud, that's what giving them a lot of the jarring unpolished look. Make them a solid mass, not a loose pile of cubes.
Yeah, better question would be "Does the game need more of more creative monsters?" and the answer is a resounding YES. I mean, with how hard spelunking is, you could play for days before meeting anything else but a drifter and the occasional wolf. There should be dark forest non-beast enemies, there should be shallow cave monsters, there should be deep water monsters etc...
Wow, that looks very hardcore. Not saying I hate it (is this inspired by crop mechanics in TFC+, which I love?) but it'll need to be rebalanced for custom month/day lengths before I consider trying it. I see great potential but it might be hard to balance so it does feel fun and not unfair, rooting for you!
