Greetings, I had originally written a post back on Friday but since things have built up a bit more and we have more of a direction and goal in mind now, I felt it would be appropriate to delete the original post. We're a vanilla game server that has temporal storms turned off. Our main goal is to build a thriving and friendly community that is built upon helping those in need. We ask that members who are interested in joining to be at least eighteen years or older. In order to easily steer the direction of the server we have divided the needs and task for the community into FOUR departments. Each is tasked with overseeing and governing the needs of our budding town, that at this time has yet to be named. By no means are you required to join any of the departments. The core members and I just feel it would better help new members to help decide which "class" they'd like to choose and what activities they would like to help partake in. The departments and a brief description of each departments' duties are as follows: Department of Construction and Forestry- focuses of the accumulation of build materials, focuses on the construction of public use buildings and path/roadways, assists in the construction of player owned homes. Controls regional deforestation by replanting saplings. Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry- Upholds the protection of Foxes and raccoons and focuses on preserving wild life such as Hens and Rams around the village for animal husbandry. Focuses on the tending to town controlled farmland as well. Department of Exploration and Extermination- Survey the land for resources that will be used for the development of the community. Become a cartographer and help map out our world and mark points of interest. Focuses on the culling of local and regional wolf and bear populations. Department of Mining and Forging- Focuses on mining for rare metals and minerals and spending your time working over a hot forge creating masterworks that will be used for the betterment of our town and society? We also have an active discord of which you will be able to get the info need access to the server,and converse with the growing community via text and voice channels. The server currently has nine out of sixteen player slots filled and we're wanting to grow beyond the current player player cap. If and when that does happen we will begin to request donation to help with server cost. All donations will be handled though the server hosting site of Nitrando. AbjectPovertyCraft aims to replicate the plugin functionality of the civ genre of minecraft servers, with a returned focus to resource scarcity in order to encourage political and economic cooperation between large groups of players. We were the earliest proponents of the plumb and square method of in-game reinforcement for Vintage Story, and hope to have a hand in the further development of mods that will give like-minded groups of players the tools needed to band together, form societies, build nations, and enforce rule of law in their areas of influence in-game without the need for admin intervention. Hello everybody! Chris again. This time i will open a thread on my current project. A huge Vintage Story city. Im trying to build this city because i never built a real, good looking city and also because of a random wall i was building to test new WE features and i thought, why not using that wall in an outer city wall? At the moment i am still at the beginning of my project and i am experimenting on many things like the style of buildings, blockvariety, size and terraforming and of course the general theme of the city. First of all: How am i going to proceed in order to build this map? 1. Basic terraforming and terraindesign. 2. Basic structures and planning where to put each individual building. 3. Exterior walls and structures. 4. Basic surroundings of the city. (streets, parks, ways, stairs, lakes, ...) 5. Adding nature to the surroundigs and the buildings. (Trees, bushes, decorative leaves, flowers, flower pots, more detail in naturalizing the terrain,...) 6.More detailed surroundings. (Lanterns, outside lights, details in the streets and ways, details on the exterior walls, ...) 7. Intirior design and details. 8.Additional things like eastereggs, secrect passageways, hidden doors, hidden rooms, organics, maybe nametags on each indiviual building. As you can see the first "block" (a group of buildings surrounded by a main street) is already finished talking of basic exterior walls, but of course this was just the first experiment on which style i am going to choose. Those 19 buildings in this first "block" are only a small percentage of the future amount of buildings (about 400 are planned right now) and of course i have planned to include some bigger marks on my map. - One huge castle (bigger and more military looking. More towers and less decorative meaning) - a palace (more detailed and decorative building with more windows and less towers) - a huge temple - a highgarden building (a building with different levels with different "gardens" on it) - a huge gate as entrance to the city - a main market right in front of the gate - another marketplace (the city is going to be big so i place the second maketplace a bit further away from the first) - arena (well i guess there's no need to explain) - and of course different " special" buildings and places like a variety of stores, a blacksmith, a library, many parks, waterfountains,... If you have any suggestions about what you would like to have in this city just post a comment down here! :-) Also i still don't know exactly how i am going to call this city, so suggestions concerning the name are welcome as well! I will use this open thread to post updates, wether by editing or just commenting under this main post, so if you are interested in my current project just come by every once a week and be hyped for the day Vintage Story will have another EPIC project on its list. Hi everybody! Chris again, but this time I just made this post in order to find a name for my newest project in Vintage Story. Here's a picture of the wall i built. Doesn't seem too epic hm? Ye it looks pretty small. Actually the highest point of the tower on the right is exactly 256 blocks away from the lowest block of the structure. So this thing is MC maximum build-height. But it's gonna be much bigger than that. As this is just a small part of the outer city wall. I plan to build a huge city with an arean, temple, a few castles and palaces and of course more than 150 normal houses. I'm looking for a great name. I might be creative building stuff but my imagination is not the best so i thought it wouldn't hurt asking for suggestions on that matter. So if you have a fitting name to a huge medieval-fantasy city, then post it here as comment. You will be updated here or in another thread in the "build" area on the current status of the project.
