Hanbara Posted September 29, 2024 Report Posted September 29, 2024 Hello, Honestly, I wouldn't want to see a skill tree in a game like this. However, I would suggest having a skill system where abilities improve as you perform tasks, similar to games like Ultima Online or Kenshi. This would give players a sense of gradual progress. For example: 0% Woodcutting - no effect, 10% Woodcutting - 2% faster cutting, 20% Woodcutting - 4% faster cutting and 1% chance to gather extra branches or wood. Such a system could provide a small but noticeable sense of development. As I am new to the game, perhaps such a system already exists or is being considered, but I wanted to share my thoughts regardless. Thank you.
RedVanGhoul Posted September 29, 2024 Report Posted September 29, 2024 The mod xSkills sort of does this. Doing certain actions gives XP towards a related skill group. For example, chopping down trees gives XP towards forestry and then you can pick skills from forestry to either speed up your chopping, get more saplings, use less durability on your axe, etc.
Hanbara Posted September 29, 2024 Author Report Posted September 29, 2024 Thank you very much. A mod of this kind could really be enjoyable; I appreciate you sharing it again.
Khornet Posted September 30, 2024 Report Posted September 30, 2024 Quote I wouldn't want to see a skill tree in a game like this. I would. We already have the base line for talents. If we're going to RPG-ify the game, why not expand on them? Quote I would suggest having a skill system where abilities improve as you perform tasks Many people dislike the Skyrim-like leveling system because it forces you to grind a specific task and sometimes encourages you to do really stupid things that are immersion-breaking (like hurting yourself repeatedly to level Restoration magic in Skryim). 2
