SapphireX Posted December 20, 2024 Report Posted December 20, 2024 I am having issues in my singleplayer world with two commands in particular, ".charsel" And "/player [name] allowcharselonce" I try to change my class/appearance by running the following command: ".charsel" The game tells me: "You dont have permission to change your character and class. An admin needs to grant you allowcharselonce permission" So i run the following command: "/player [name] allowcharselonce" And the game tells me: "Player can already run .charsel to change skin and character class" If i try to run the first command over the cycle starts again, i cant get it to work Is there by any chance something that im missing? every other command seems to work just about fine and i seem to have admin permissions but the .charsel command doesnt seem to work for me and i cant find anything about this on the wiki nor anywhere else. 1
Feldherren Posted December 21, 2024 Report Posted December 21, 2024 (edited) I'm also having this issue, in singleplayer. Are you maybe on one of the release candidates? I'm on 1.20.0-rc.5, and .charsel fails in exactly the same way Sapphire is describing. Edited December 21, 2024 by Rebecca Paliwoda Specified I was playing singleplayer.
pvtdonutk Posted December 21, 2024 Report Posted December 21, 2024 I am also experiencing the same problem but in Multiplayer. The admin runs the allowcharselonce command and it says that I should do .charsel, but when I run it it says I do not have permission.
James David Dutcher Posted December 21, 2024 Report Posted December 21, 2024 Ditto, same issue as admin on 3rd party server.
TheDanleyParable Posted December 22, 2024 Report Posted December 22, 2024 Im having the same issue here...
Nick Monroe Posted December 22, 2024 Report Posted December 22, 2024 Same, using 1.20.0-rc5. Thought I was going mad!
SapphireX Posted December 22, 2024 Author Report Posted December 22, 2024 Yeah i have been using 1.20.0-rc.5 i guess thats just the issue then maybe
Solution pvtdonutk Posted December 24, 2024 Solution Report Posted December 24, 2024 Bug supposedly fixed with rc6, I'm updating now. Fixed: Command "/allowCharSelOnce" no longer working
Endermaster56 Posted February 5, 2025 Report Posted February 5, 2025 bug is still occuring for me and i cannot change class
Echo Weaver Posted July 14, 2025 Report Posted July 14, 2025 (edited) Is this still going on? 1.20 has been out a long time now. I just updated my 1.19 game, and .charsel is giving me the error in the OP. It looks like ".charsel" is the command I should be using in a single player game. I started this game as a Commoner, and now I know enough about classes to choose one. It'd be a bummer if now I can't. ETA: Nvm. I didn't realize I needed to use the admin command "/player [name] allowcharselonce" and THEN ".charsel" Edited July 14, 2025 by Echo Weaver
