Explorer Difficulty is nice for me, as it reduces some of the elements I'm not yet prepared to deal with (like Temporal Stability, Temporal Storms, and animals that are aggressive if the player is too close to them). I noticed that bears, wolves, and moose will defend themselves if attacked on Explorer difficulty; I feel this is fair, as the player is likely prepared to deal with such an outcome and won't be caught off guard. One thing that I find odd is that Drifters will just run instead of defending themselves like wildlife will. If I attack a Drifter, having that attacked monster defend itself is an expected outcome of trying to kill one. These strange creatures shouldn't simply run away and act 100% passively when the player initiates combat with a Drifter on Explorer Mode. At least a toggle should be in place for a person to choose if Drifters can retaliate after being attacked while playing on Explorer Mode settings. It seems like an oversight in my opinion, as animals can retaliate against the players to protect themselves.
