I feel some nice forest ambience - the chirping of birds, pecking of woodpeckers, occasional creak of wood for taller trees - would really elevate the immersion and zen feeling of the game. Sounds could emanate from leaves that are connected to tree structures (using similar code that dictates what a "tree" is for the sake of cutting them down), or perhaps even from the branchy leaf blocks themselves.

Sounds could differ based on season and time of day (owls at night?)

Salty's Forest Symphonywas an inspiration for the post, the sounds just add so much to the game feel.
