Luna Ludens Posted April 6, 2025 Report Posted April 6, 2025 I think it would be very neat to lean more into the cottagecore experience with some more variety in food preservation and home production. Things like water-bath canning, simple freeze-drying, and a larger variety of methods to sea,l and more containers to seal food inside. I am obviously biased as i am a huge fan of home canning, vacuum sealing and other food security practises. But i think theres a lot of inspiration that could be had from both the olden ways as well as applying a fantasy-spin on modern methods such as magic items or craftables that can cool a cellar in the summer or even temporally locking containers with gears and other temporal materials to "slow time" for food and other expirable goods. I'd also love to see more variety in shelving and storage in general, as i find looking at well stocked pantries and supply rooms to be immensely satisfying. Wooden crates for cellar-store produce, larger shelves with more capacity, the ability to fill barrels with salt for storing fish and the amish practice of burying produce in ash are some examples that come to mind. More freedom to build larger cellars that 7x7 would be great as well. And generally i wanna echo other posts wishes for more variety in foods, ingredients and cooking methods. I really love the current direction of the game and cant wait to see what else is in store for the future! 2
