I really wanted to play the game with my friend but actually trying to make hosting work without having to pay for a server. Will the devs make inviting friends to a server easier example like 7 days to die where you can just invite your friend

there is a way to host a dedicated private server for free or simply pay the 11$ USD and have a private server that way downside to that is no mods );

You can just port forward the port then open your singleplayer world open to lan -> open to internet and then they join via ip
