The strength of the game as it stands is by far the early game.
Primitive survival has never been so engaging.

However, there are a number of foundational technologies that are missing:
Using Pyrite as a source of sparks when struck with flint.
Birch tar: much more sturdy glue than pine pitch, could improve tool durability.
Different flint knapping technologies, such as prepared flake technology, which produces sharper razor edges rather than serrations, at the cost of using more material.
Tinder hoof as a portable ember carrier.
Atlatl spear throwers and bolas.
Using herbs such as yarrow as a bleed stopper. 


I also really like how the blackguard has a higher hunger rate and melee damage.
