Am I building this wrong? It's like sunlight goes through solid blocks

I have completed building a shed for some of my animals, and after closing all the gaps am very confused to find it unnaturally lit, as though none of my building blocks are blocking sunlight. This makes me concerned that I'm doing something wrong. Can someone help me figure this out?

This is the inside:

This is the outside and the roof:

Technically it should be completely dark inside until I add a torch or something, right??

I found help on the wiki and discovered I can check if a room is valid with the command "/debug rooms hi". I did so and the room is indeed valid, which is a relief because that's all I really wanted to be certain of.

Also, after placing torches in the shed and viewing it at night, it seems that light naturally leaks through the gate/door block. I guess this is normal and Vintage Story just handles light/shading differently than I'm used to.

:)

Wiki source that helped me, in case anyone else is interested:
