Exstructor Posted June 29, 2025 Report Posted June 29, 2025 Hey, I created an issue, but maybe some people want to talk about it on the forum. Long story short, OpenGL is not supported on Apple Silicon hardware. The last supported version is 4.1 which Vintage Story was using. In the newest game version 1.21, OpenGL 4.3 is used, which cannot work on Apple Silicon. Unless the dev team has some plan to use another API, it means that the platform will not be supported from now on.
b_achey Posted July 2, 2025 Report Posted July 2, 2025 Would love to hear from someone knowledgeable about this - hope its just a mixup! Would hate to suddenly lose my ability to play future updates
Exstructor Posted July 7, 2025 Author Report Posted July 7, 2025 The latest pre released has fixed it
LeahWake Posted July 9, 2025 Report Posted July 9, 2025 I´ve downloaded the latest version for mac 1.20.12. when trying to run it, it shows the prompt that apple could not verify "vintagestory" is free of malware warning.
FlareUKCS Posted July 9, 2025 Report Posted July 9, 2025 I get that on Windows 10 as well, its just that VS is not on the whitelist, its free of Malware... a pain in the butt that Edge keeps hiding the file under drop down lists so I can get to the file .

That is just because the developer isn't on Apple's list of verified, trusted developers. I've ALWAYS had to go in and manually tell the security settings to allow VS to run anyway. Edit: Whitelist. Yeah. That's the word I was trying to remember before my morning coffee. Edited July 9, 2025 by Tom Cantine 2
