There is no tooltip or indication you can harvest it. I wasn't sure if I had to wait longer for the log to leak more resin, if I had to chop it down with an axe, break it with a knife, etc. Should show a tooltip that you can harvest it with your bare hands. It is a huge loss to destroy a tree near your base as a new player because the game does a great job at other tooltips but isn't clear for resin EDIT: nevermind, it does show up. Not sure how I missed it the first few times. Maybe the log was still in a leaking state and had no resin, so I assumed you had to chop it to get the resin.
