Inflectus Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 · Hidden Hidden Echoes of the Ancients: Season 0 Built by roleplayers, for roleplayers, Echoes of the Ancients is a serious roleplay server operated by the Passion Projecting (PP) Gaming Community. Our vision is to cultivate a serious, immersive roleplay experience, built to scale and someday become the premier Vintage Story roleplay server. We work hard to create a unique environment and experience, built on our own systems, our own story and our own custom content. We are built on the following core principles, which you can read about by hovering over them: <abbr title="We want to create the premier roleplay experience in Vintage Story. In Echoes of the Ancients, everyone is expected to be willing and excited to roleplay. However, we also expect people to accept, mentor and be patient with those who have less experience or creativity.">Roleplay</abbr> <abbr title="We pride ourselves on our lore, which is written from the ground up by our talented team of writers and contributors. We are also happy to write lore that canonizes the events and ideas of our players, or canonize their lore directly if it's significant and structured enough. While we love the Vintage Story lore, we want to create something special even for veteran players, repurposing the props it gives us to tell our own, unique narrative.">Lore</abbr> <abbr title="Where possible, we want to maintain player freedom: no preventing people from building unless they have a specific role, or saying someone can't grow a garden unless they're a designated farmer. Vintage Story is as much a game as it is a canvas for storytelling. We expect our players to be able to meet their basic goals and needs, and use custom, mechanical systems to gatekeep only the highest tiers of a production chain behind designated self-appointed professionals. Additionally, we want you to be able to tell your own story, as long as it's within the confines of and respects our lore.">Freedom</abbr> <abbr title="We are in it for the long-term. We want to create not only a premier roleplay experience, but a lasting one. We recognize that roleplayers in the Vintage Story community have a lot of damaged trust with communities rising and falling with the changing of months, or erasing their characters and their progress with little to no notice, remorse or compromise, and we don't want to tread that same path. Just as we expect you to respect our story and time, we want to respect yours.">Longevity</abbr> <abbr title="We are built on accessibility, the concept that the most possible players should be able to participate in our community. Whether it be the fact we're strictly text-based, the mods we use (or don't use, to save performance) or the attitude we cultivate around inclusiveness, we want the most possible people who meet our standards and expectations to feel welcome.">Accessibility</abbr> Now, what is Season 0 of Echoes of the Ancients? Season 0 is a prequel into the world of <abbr title="Continent where Echoes of the Ancients predominately takes place, it has three primary regions: Mesana, Venmire and Cindorath. None of the races in Daystar have knowledge of a world beyond, even though they might trace their origins beyond Daystar many generations ago.">Daystar</abbr>, and takes place in the eastern sub-region known as <abbr title="Recently discovered region of Daystar, which once served as a refuge for the denizens of Mesana. In contrast to Mesana, Venmire is known for its lush landscape, exotic wildlife and the relatively lacking presence of Ancient civilization.">Venmire</abbr>. In this season, Venmire serves as a refuge for the races of Echoes of the Ancients: the charitable <abbr title="Humble, communal people whose origins are unknown. Riverfolk are the most skilled farmers, carpenters and shipwrights in Daystar, dominating the few fertile regions of Mesana and credited with the discovery of Venmire. Life for the average Riverfolk revolves around family, peace and their reverence for their deity, the Great Serpent.">Riverfolk</abbr>, the rugged <abbr title="Duneriders are a nomadic people, well-adapted to desert survival and famed for their skill as hunters, herbalists, weavers and traders. Taught to survive from a young age, and owing their spirit and strength to the patron animal deity of their Kel, these adventurous spirits have a keen eye for business, seeing profit where others see knowledge or curiosity. Duneriders sometimes come off as selfish and greedy people, but in truth, their engagement with commerce is as much an indulgence as it is a spiritual, sacred practice.">Duneriders</abbr>, the hardy <abbr title="Undergrounders are survivalists from a bygone era, a remnant slave race of the Ancients. Selectively bred across multiple generations to be the ideal warrior, Undergrounders are not the brightest, nor the most creative, nor the most trusting. However, they make up for all of this in their strength, their fortitude and their undying loyalty to one another (and the rare Abovegrounder they call a friend.) While they lack the artistic flair of Abovegrounders, they are still known as decent stonemasons, masterful metalworkers and exceptional bards, passing down the history and hardship of their people through work songs and ballads.">Undergrounders</abbr>, and the dutiful <abbr title="Hardworking, pretentious and devout people, the Skylanders traditionally isolate themselves in their fortress-monasteries, rarely brushing shoulders with other races unless it is to engage in a quest or convert them to their faith. Skylanders make for the strongest-willed warriors, the most learned scholars and masterful stonemasons. Skylander life revolves around the Sky, the Moon and the Sun, three deities who embody different qualities and bestow those qualities upon their followers. When they come of age, a Skylander is appointed to one of these castes, narrowing down their purpose in society and calling in life.">Skylanders</abbr>. While their homeland, <abbr title="Central region of Daystar, a desert harboring few fertile river valleys, vast savannahs and imposing mesas and mountains. It is the homeland of our four races, as well as the precipice of Ancient civilization (or rather, its ruins) in Daystar.">Mesana</abbr>, is torn asunder by supernatural disaster, our brave characters find themselves on the frontier of civilization, struggling to create a life for themselves and preserve the story and existence of their people. You have a chance to play a character in this pivotal moment in Echoes of the Ancients history, becoming a large part of how it's remembered and what it's remembered for. Your stories will tell the collective odyssey of Venmire so that seasons down the line there is something meaningful and real for players to remember from this time in the lore. We respect your time spent on this server, and for that reason we hope to space our seasons at least a year apart, with the opportunity to carry over your characters and organizations between worlds. We have a crack-shot team of seasoned roleplayers, writers, programmers, artists and moderators. We have former staff and players hailing from Minecraft roleplay (such as <abbr title="Premier roleplay experience in Minecraft over a decade in the running, set in a custom, medium-fantasy world inspired by Lord of the Rings.">Lord of the Craft</abbr>), DMs and players of tabletop RPGs, former players and staff of the Vintage Story roleplay scene, <abbr title="Such as BASIC, the author of the RP Basics mod used by every roleplay server in Vintage Story.">modders</abbr> of the Vintage Story modding scene, and roleplayers from other various media such as web forums, Conan Exiles and SS13. In addition, I am a former <abbr title="Honor given to the owners of Discord servers that were large, organized and distinguished enough to be awarded a partnership with Discord. In my case, it was a gaming community for an indie game, which was around 14,000 members at the time of our partnership. I ran that community for around 5 years before stepping down to focus on life and other endeavors.">Discord Partner</abbr>, giving me the experience and wisdom necessary to grow and guide this community. I hope you'll give us a chance, and that we'll soon see you become a part of our wonderful community! Join and apply on our Discord today!
