I downloaded VSQuest and compiled it on .Net8, and it seems to work fine in initial testing. 

I see a lot of unofficial updates posted to ModDB, but it doesn't permit two mods with the same modID to be posted on the database. How are other people doing it?

I guess they're just uploading the whole mod with the recompiled DLLs, all the assets, and a new modID. I assume that the mod under the new modID is fine with the save data from the old one in people's saves?

Yeah, I picked through a few of them, and you're right. Not sure why I thought it was more complicated than that.
