Hello folks!

I've been having trouble finding somewhere that is set up the way I like to play so, depending on interest, I'm considering setting up a server open to people who enjoy this play style.
The general idea is to create a long running server that players can drop in and out of without the urgent feeling of a need to push through advancement and just enjoy the game.
A server where everything takes time and investment which will hopefully promote cooperative play and long lasting community.

A bit about me and what I hope for with the server:
I'm an older player and have run VS servers in the past. As such, I expect a mature and respectful environment, many of us play the game with our kids or young family members so in the creation of this server and community personal conduct is of high importance to me.
I intend to connect a Discord community to the server if there is enough interest to continue discussion and let those interested have input on the set up of the world.
We have just seen some rapid updates to the game so bug testing mods and working out issues is probably to be expected for the beginning.
I have some skill in modding for VS and will be able to provide solutions to more minor conflict issues etc. but would always welcome other skilled individuals.




Server setting proposal:
(These are the proposed ideas for the server, specifics may be subject to change but below is an outline of themes I would like to implement.)

Gameplay time:
Longer game hours, usually I play on setting 12, which is 240 minute days.
(This usually requires changing things like fuel burn times, hunger ratios etc. but can be done to find a balance.)
30 days per month and all other values set to longest duration.

Game Settings:
I prefer Terra Prety for world gen, along with some other mods that change/reduce ore spawns.
Block gravity and cave in turned on with mods to support this like Posts and Beams and Pick Bars to aid in successfully creating mineshafts.
Water block placement turned off. Possible addition of a mod like Aqueducts.
No world map without crafting as in mod: Craftable cartography.
No mods for easy respawn such as Bed Spawn etc.* so temporal gears must be used.
No Traders. Mods will be added for the creation of things only accessible through traders.

Extended 'needs':
Mods that add the need for thirst, bodily functions etc. such as hydrate or diedrate, natures call and What a Scatastrophe!
Perhaps even mods that add tiredness and a need to rest such as SleepNeed.

Extended crafting:
All and any mods that elongate and enrich the crafting processes will be considered.
Favourites for now are: In Dappled Groves for manual wood production, Salty & Toast's Immersive: Mining
and others in a similar vein. 
Most of the mods will be in this area. Things that add extra immersion and investment.

POSSIBLE HOMO SAPIENS MODE:
I have always preferred to play the non-story homo sapiens mode and add modded creatures in to raise the threat level, however I understand this game mode may not be particularly popular so I'm happy to go with a more standard game. If there are people interested I had some ideas to create server specific lore that would have a story element ran by myself and others interested.


Extra ideas:
* I had toyed with the idea of setting a limited life count on the server, however no matter how careful you are...
So, as 'lore', there will be a static spawn point where the player emerges from a portal in to the world.

Sorry for the late reply, things came up!
I'm EU rather than US.

As far as how it's going to come together, it really depends on interest. I'm happy to open a Discord for people to trickle in and discuss the finer points.
