0gladih Posted July 3 Report Posted July 3 Hi wolf bait hunters! I had a new world, and this time it took me 3 years to get bees. So I decided to do 2 bee meadows, one (A) close to the place I've got the bees (a chunk with better weather), and the other (B) close to my base where I live. I started (A) first. (B) started populating way faster than (A), (B) has almost all skeps populated, and (A) has just 2 (I suspect the second one was just populated when I arrived or while I was working putting fences). Both meadows have the same configuration and number of skeps. I used the wiki as a guide for them. I do not use any mods. Is there a way to keep the chunk loaded?
Grummsh Posted July 8 Report Posted July 8 So from what i know considering how you get wild bees to populate the first skep - the process doesnt need the chunk to be loaded. Many times ive encountered wild beehives a looooong way from my base and i planted the flowers around it left a skep and when i came back after a day or 2 they populated the skep no problem. What i would ask is there a long distance between Your A and B meadows - and also is there a difference in hight above sea lvl - what i mean by that is it a lot colder in of the meadows then the other. As if the temp drops to 0C or below bees stop producing or swarming. 1

The original beehive was farther from home than my (A) meadow. The (A) meadow is at height 113; my (B) meadow is at 114. The distance between the meadows is 594 blocks. The weather for (A) is way better than (B). Spring starts earlier on (A) than in (B). The cold season starts sooner in (B). I can have snow at home, while at (A) there is still good weather. I have noticed this happens with honey production too. This is the first time I have a far-away second bee meadow. My solution so far is to stay visiting (A) for less than a day, and I see the skeps filling up and populating. It appears they do it faster (like accumulating, holding up, until release). I do get plenty of honey anyway. I'm accepting this as normal behavior of the game. 1
