    I did and still you will be shocked how much of the stuff underground you miss since it doesn't show op while prospecting.
    Searching for coal or any ore while you sit on top of it and so on, and it's not like you can afford to just stripmine for days like in minecraft.

    The searching i don't mind but not for hours and hours.

    The pro pick makes no sense what so ever, it's a chance indicator of ore in an prospected chunk. So it is a gamble most of the time since there is a chance there is no ore.
    We were looking for gold (its in quartz under ground) you can't find it with the pro pick.
     
    We were getting so frustrated trying to find this stuff so I installed a scanner mod.
    Halite deposits don't get detected where they are at all.
    Quartz and gold never show up on a chunk prospect so finding gold is just luck.
     
    I used a scanner mod and we finally found stuff we were never going to find without it (see the attached image).
    We are missing out on loads of stuff in the world since there is no reason to go dig for 3 hours and burn through all your iron/copper or run into a cave with nothing but drifter hoards.
     
    The whole prospecting thing needs a rework to make it more usable and user friendly,
    And make it so you can spot the hidden underground ruins with rust spots top soil or sounds or something.

    I recently bought the game and really love the game as a whole. I got myself a nice amount of copper so far and got a nice farm up and running for food. So far so good.

    But now I need to go mining and I cannot, for the life of me, find any good results or even ores to begin with.

     

    I did everything I saw in suggestions. From using Node mode to the sample mode. I am using the mod that shows you what you got on the map.

    I dug down in specific spots, using node mode over and over but nothing.

    I went into caves trying to find ores that way, using node mode more and more but nothing.

    I have now wasted over 5 pickaxes and one prospectors pick with the next one being almost broken as well and all I want is some dang hematite lol

     

    Is there something I am doing wrong or is this just the standard experience?
    Because in videos I constantly see people find a BIIIIG load in chunks while I find poor to no traces whatsoever.

    I have the same problem days and days nothing pick after pick till a friend fell into a cave with lots of iron.
    had more luck stumbling into meteorite ore then finding anything use full.

    With the prospecting pick just giving chunk chance indication it kind of feels useless, since the chunk is 32X32 finding something is more a roll of the dice then anything else eating through your pickaxe and food reserves.

    Managed to break 6 or so not finding anything useful.
