  1. I do have a Steam Deck layout that I use when playing on that (which is shared as "Beth's Vintage Story Layout") that I've honed after quite a few hours, but this suggestion was specifically for movement joystick input, as that would let both my layout and yours use the native controller left-stick output for fine-tuned movement instead of the much-more-clunky joystick->WASD remapping. In all honesty, it would be possible for me to adjust the Steam mappings to auto-activate crouch on small input and sprint on large ones, but I've found that kinda thing a bit annoying in the past when I've tried it (could be worth trying again, tho).
  2. I know this is likely a topic asked for before, however I'm not looking for 100% pure controller support in this - instead, I would like for at least some things (such as movement) to support controller input so that controllers like the Steam Deck can use it, while keeping to keyboard & mouse for all other inputs. Currently, you can map VS pretty well to the SD (mostly thanks to the amount of inputs it has), however there are some rough edges, mostly with movement, as it's still limited to the on/off of the key input. If the game supported controller input only for movement, then it would let the SD binding (or any controller binding based on Steam Input) use that to give the fine-grained control that the keyboard lacks. I believe there are also some keyboards that can output controller joystick movement on keys, so it would let those be supported as well (I have a razer keypad that can do this, although I've not used it for VS). This kind of feature would let controller support be experimented with without requiring large portions of the UI to be updated, and would give a real sweet QOL bump to players (like me) who play this game mostly on controller. Throwing it behind an 'experimental (may break at any time)' toggle in the settings feels pretty natural, and should help prevent this kind of thing from interfering with other parts of the game for most players.
