I just posted an ad for my server group where we are doing something very, very similar, primarily as dwarven biological golems.

Grumein The Great Reclaimer set out two years past (In game) to strike the earth and found the small hold of Hammerdeep. Few Dwarven remnants, each and every one a strange biological golem with the soul of a Dwarf inside, (and one random Elf.) Memories are fragmented, and little is known of what happened to the world, until the fateful day when the Archives were rediscovered following an expedition to a far grander peak, where the earth was struck once more.
