Its not too bad to chisel it out, especially with Chiseltech Tools mod, but even vanilla chisel work for a hand rail shouldn't be too hard.

I have to apologise as I made some silly comment on this topic. I do make use of a number of mods, and appreciate the efforts of the modders in improving my experience. I will add that its my opinion the devs should focus on what is good for the vanilla game, and as long as a suitable warning is given, allow the modders to adapt. In short adapt what the team feel would improve the vanilla experience and simply inform the modders what and why changes were made, as long as its not changing all the time.

The question should be, would the end users be helped ? I appreciate the effort modders have made to make the game more fun, but I want the main game be more improved, and if we can do this and make the modders code easily changed, then it will be better. I love what the modders do for the community, but I prefer the vanilla game be better. I love the modders effort but prefer the vanilla game... I want a vanilla experience rather than depend on modders, as in I prefer vanilla but I appreciate the work modders do.

I run all DL files via Eset and it scans clean with that paid for anti virus solution, Eset has a favourable reputation iirc. -

Have you tried playing with the Chunk Upload Limiter ? Try increasing it to 5 or higher to see what it does, the tooltip says each system has different happy medium. I have a lesser machine than yours, despite having all the eye candy max'd it runs at a pretty smooth 75 FPS at 1920 and 608 render range, so your machine should do much better. (My PC is a i74970k 32 ddr 3 ram rtx 3060 on a SSD Win 10) The only other setting that seems odd is the optimise ram, which on mine is optimise somewhat. Hope you can fix it.

I would prefer more in game audio....or enhancing the current ambiant, as in echo in caverns, but adding some random noises that have no fixtures, as is a wolf howl but no wolf around, or bush rustles with no entity that triggered that audio, would you enjoy hearing bush rustles with no entity that make that audio ? I rather have a audio trigger mean something is near, not its creepy but its something you need to be aware of... I dont mind scary audio at night IF there is a something behind the audio. Think if someone is banging on your door, but if nothing is there its kinda lame... boom boom, hello no one there. I mean I would grab a spear then open the door... and nothing there would just annoy me, I trust the audio extra stuff would just annoyed me unless there was a origin for the audio.

Could also use icons, with an arrow indicating direction if applicable just above the usual help text above the HP / Food bar... eyes naturally go there so it wouldn't be out the way imo.

I dont like the idea, only because as a gamer we rely on what we see and hear in the game (some haptic options exist but not in VS), and as such adding audio just for extra 'creepyness' would make it hard to distinguish audio cues we need to pay attention to and just creepy stuff. Valheim has a bush rustle noise that plays randomly, initially I reacted but it was just cosmetic, and it got annoying as a result.

It may be controversial to say but I don't like NPC actors in my games, I want to be the sole owner of all I see, its my world I want it to be pristine before I effect it... adding odd things like villagers makes it less my domain and more something I can control if I want, oddly its a not pleasant thing... I mean if the village is in a spot I want, I need to murder them all.... and I dont like that. I dont mind the traders as they are expected, NPC's are often not. Its hard to explain its just a feeling, I want to build here with NPC's it more about building around them and then using them. I like it being Trader in a tiny cell, than trying to find Villagers to exploit in some manner, aka the other block game. That is my opinion

I was wondering if Tyron and the rest of the team have thought of some basic merchandising, not in DLC or stuff that was in game but more to the physical boring real world. I am pretty sure there would be some interest in a plushie of a Locust, or other iconic VS 'characters' . Imagine a bronze and/or corrupt locust plushie with a limited run on Saw Blade Locust plushies. It would be at least a means to inject a bit more cash in without needing to ask players for cash for in game stuff (which I hate tbh).

The idea with the handles is as an option, not as a replacement to the sticks, like how you can use bones to make bone handled knife and axe. I know you can change animal behaviour as a setting and console command but it feels 'cheaty' to use that when you want to play the game as close to dev intended as possible (I use a few mods so its not so pure vanilla in my case), a day or two grace shouldn't hurt the survival experience too much and may cut down on the complaints about wolves and bears (probably not but hey ) The idea of giving 10 reeds is both teach the newer player how beneficial reeds are, and cut down of the early game tedium of cutting 64 reeds for a full initial inventory and a chest, its not going to break the survival aspect. I seen the concept art for the new mob, and it looks awesome and cant wait to deal with that but I thought a odd creepy drifter would be interesting, and make the usual mob glitching at the door all night long antics a little more varied, currently the drifters aint a danger unless you elect to go out and face them they are more annoying to be honest. Good point on the lack of a face though, didn't think it was a canon thing the drifters had such a *koff* blank expression

Loving the game, but I do have some suggestions I think may add to the game. 1 - Consider making Wolves and Bears spawn a day or two after you start your new world, so when you are looking for reeds for your baskets you dont need to run from wolves or bears , especially when you dont have food to spare to keep running. 2 - Maybe give the player 10 reeds when starting a new world, this will help teach players how to make their inventory, and reduce the tedium of collecting reeds each new start, or be penalised if there is no reeds easily obtained on day 1, at least the player will get 3 slots to get started. 3 - Allow players to craft a sturdy handle from boards for tools as a slight boost to durability as a option, its a bit odd you will still use sticks to make new tools even when you can make metal tools. 4 - A new mob type, to give players the creeps at night just for some fun, basically a darker skinned drifter with prominent glowing eyes with a odd behaviour of being attracted to player made windows, the mob will behave as a typical drifter if the player is in attack range but otherwise loiters around windows looking inside... creepy methinks Good work on the game devs.
