That kind of thing is used for mass-producing metal in a major furnace. You poke a hole in the furnace, the molten metal flows out and runs along sand channels into ingot-shaped depressions.

We do not have this kind of furnace in Vintage Story - we smelt metal in a handheld crucible in a campfire.

Now, the fact that said handheld crucible can hold more metal than the aforementioned major mass-production furnace is another topic entirely... :P (There's actually a mod available to limit the crucible's maximum allowed content.)

Well of course, gamification and all that - I understand it's done on such large scale manufacturing plants, but were there never more... Primitive designs?

  2. I have not the slightest what it's actually called - But I was thinking; Wouldn't being able to connect channels of liquid metal to several ingot molds be a lot better than individually filling each and every ingot mold manually?

I wish I could portray what I was thinking but I can't find a reference image for the life of me.

  3. Hey, sorry to Necro this - But I'm having the same problem; CTRL Clicking adds portions in the multiples of .3 ML's per click and I can't seem to find out how to tune it even further.

Edit: Seems to be based off of what container one is using - Using a Jug sets it to .3 MLs per Shift Click, while a Bottle transfers .1MLs - Figured it out.

I don't think they do. I had a pumpkin patch that had dies sitting there for in-game years and they never re-grew.
This doesn't mean you should not farm. Farming gives incredible amounts of food as well as precious, precious flax.

Oh I'm still going to farm! Building a place to put my rotation now instead of.. Well.. Just a few patches out by the lake - Was just wondering so I wouldn't have to remove my Dead crops if they'd come back; Thank you!!

  5. I'm not a Botanist or an Herbalist, but a friend told me that many crops in nature will grow back after "dying" in winter so long as the roots are intact - Does Vintage Story simulate this? I'm in March and I'm debating sowing my first batch of produce.

    Thanks!

That's Windows throwing the error... make sure you have your user / file permissions figured out correctly, and check to make sure your C drive isn't dying.

Well I'd like to think the drive isn't dying - It's an SSD that's around four or five years old but it doesn't give me any problems - Taking screenshots a few versions ago wasn't an issue. I have been having problems with file permissions though; Many games have been flagged and had their installs kneecapped by Windows disallowing writing to SSD.

Edit: Yeah - I had to allow Vintage Story through "Controlled folder file access". I guess I should feel grateful that Windows has this feature. Thanks for the lead! Screens are working fine now! 😀
