  1. Thanks for all the suggestions. I am leaning to explorer mode, though keep inventory might be appealing too. The waterworld idea for a map is what I might go for next. I've downloaded "no surface drifters" previously, so there is that option too. Fun stuff! Edit: I found this on regex's suggestion: No Lore Creatures https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/28514 It looks promising!
  2. Hi LadyWYT, Oh yes, my games have included a lot of standard play. I like the idea of tweaking the worldgen settings and changing class. I've always played as a hunter because I can run faster than bears! Do you know if there is any way to get some company in Homo Sapiens mode? I've looked at the mods but don't see anything to add traders. I like sailing (thanks for the boat launch fix devs) so perhaps a waterword adventure. As for console, it's just me but I just hate doing that. I get de-motivated when I extend the game into creative. Although I know I shouldn't be that way. Keep inventory might be the way, and I've considered it. Also, I will say that all my builds are "cozy" little places so the strategy that Ashantin takes with gathering massive resources via teleporters is fun, but I ain't creative enough to build her architectural wonders! Recently I've just lived in rammed earth structures whilst exploring for stuff. Waterworld sounds kind of challenging and fun, but there's still the annoying monsters!!! Go away monsters!
  3. Hi everyone and HNY! I've played a great many hours in the game and have gone through all the different modes of playing. Normally, I play single life as I'm not too keen on death runs! To compensate, I give myself a few extra hit points and when I play homo sapiens mode I put cave ins on. I feel that's sufficiently challenging. Recently, I've become very equivocal about the monsters but unless I go for exploration mode I feel lonely as there are no traders in homo sapiens. So I don't know what to do for a new setup? Perhaps the community could give me some ideas?
  4. Thanks for checking it out for me!
  5. Hi Everyone, In 1.21 I've not been able to successfully launch the boat. It must be something I'm doing wrong, but I can't figure it out. I always have to dig the boat out from underneath to drop the rollers so the boat floats. Here's what happened in 1.21.5:
  6. Hi everyone, I've been playing 1.21 since pre-1 in various game styles. In my latest Homo Sapiens game, I manage to find three elks. Sadly, no calves and two of the three disappeared (down a pit I think!). There's one female left I've searched for a few months at a couple of locations where they should spawn, but sadly haven't found any more. In my other 1.21 games I never found any elks, but I think I was looking mostly in wrong areas. Now that I know where to look does anyone have any advice (it's cold and snowing and almost March). Should I wait for Spring and check out the potential areas again? Can the devs spam more elks?!? It would be so much fun to do that 1.21 game mechanic.

  7. Thanks for the tip. I've tried just riding once per day, but the counter is still moving up and down ... almost randomly. I will do some more experiments and post any solution. It could just be because I'm on rc-1. Edit: It's bugged in rc-1. The counter will not consistently go down. Now it could very well be because of a mod or something I've done.
  8. Yes that's what I'm doing. The counter started at 24 and then went down to 23 after 1 day of riding him 24 times., The next day it went to 19, then it went back up to 23 the following day! I get a little beat up riding him but that's to be expected. I'm confused by the wording though. If I ride him 19 times in one day, one would expect the next day to be 18, not jump back to 23! So that's why I was curious about the mechanic. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong.
  9. Hi everyone, This might have been clarified previously but I have not seen a post so here's my question. Tyron says: "Place a saddle on it and "saddle break" it once per day for several days to get a fully tamed elk" The tool tip when I mouse over my semi-tamed elk says "19 saddle breaks required every 1 days to fully tame". I started to break him in a few days ago so the # of saddle breaks is going down, but I would like to know the game mechanic a little better. Does anyone know? PS I couldn't find any elk on my maps (I've played pre-1, pre-2, pre-3, an rc-1) and I also made test maps and flew around using block overlay but still couldn't find any. So I created a few elks and some calves and setup the reinforced traps, but even though I was able to coral one into a large non-escapable area, the little fellow wouldn't take the bait. So, I made a calve and stuck him in the barn and he grew up in a couple of days and here we are!
