  1. Wow it turns out those baskets had things in them, and the way to have them become pick-up-able was to completely empty my backpack/basket inventory. Even though there were tons of free spots in that inventory, enough to carry all those baskets and everything inside them, it didn't pick them up So not only are those baskets weird ghosts with not even a tooltip in them, they could contain valuable items without any visual indication too, and then despawn So I managed to pick them up now, but I can't say I understand the UI still. Seems like the safest way to craft backpacks and equip without silently getting your items put in untakeable baskets on the ground, is to first empty your entire basket/backpack inventory, just having more than enough empty slots is not sufficient... Weird EDIT: oops this was supposed to be a reply to https://www.vintagestory.at/forums/topic/13251-basket-lying-on-the-ground-cant-pick-it-up/ instead
  2. I crafted a hunter's basket and moved the basket, which the backpack replaces, in a chest However, after pressing escape to close all menus, the basket is lying in front of the chest I've tried everything, right click, left click, ensure there's a free spot in the bottom inventory, ... but the basket keeps lying there like a ghost, with not even a tooltip when mousing over it Is this a glitch, or am I missing something? Will this eventually despawn, or stay there?
  3. Even with game audio sliders at the loudest, it's very soft compared to other programs like Youtube in a browser, when using Youtube as the background music instead of the game's music It'd be nice if the game could also have louder volume levels to be similar to other programs: it's somewhat annoying to always have to mess with the youtube volume and your volume settings in general when playing this game, then reverting it all back when not playing it In general the request is: allow making the effects, entity, ambient, weather sound levels higher than the slider's rightmost value currently goes, or perhaps have a master volume slider that allows making them all higher at the same time, so that you can actually hear anything (especially important cues like nearby animals) in the game when having youtube playing music at even a moderate volume EDIT: by the way, the game music is very good, nothing wrong with it! But listening to youtube allows more variety of music.
  4. For me it seems when I hear a growl it's already too late. It's growl, single bite, death. Sometimes it's growl, frantically reaching for ctrl to run but accidently hitting shift+ctrl at same time, death. But I got some medium skins curing and also some resin so I'll have armor soon which will hopefully fix the single-hit problem.
  5. I now managed to catch wolves with a 3x3x3 pit. I found a whole pack, and I managed to lure them in one by one. Multiple of them dropped fat, and medium hides. Feels really good!! Also died by a bear, apparently they can escape 3x3x3 pits...
  6. Basically I seem to be stuck on animal fat by the way Any animal seems to one hit me Wihtout animal fat, no armor other than useless-waste-of-time-disappear-after-2-hits-armor (and I've already taken 100 hits of animals and got 0 fat) How can you get animal fat as a noob with stone spears?
  7. > Improvised armor I had one and it's gone now after two hits by a wolf, if armor which requires crafting only survives 2 wolf hits and then disappears it doesn't seem like an improvement at all > enemy needs to be somewhat in front of you. Wolves come from a random direction and kill me in 1 hit, there would not be time to have it in front of me > I'd carry 3-4 spears. Would that be enough to kill a wolf? Do wolves respawn after killed? Thanks!
  8. Hi, I'm a beginner and I'm playing Homo Sapiens mode with some settings tweaks (no map, but do keep items on death due to... reasons) I'm trying to figure out most things on my own. I'm not looking to go to copper age as fast as possible or anything like that, just figure out things one by one at my own pace. However, wolves are ruining everything. As soon as there's a wolf, basically I'll die. I even made armor from wood and grass, though I see that this armor has disappeared now (where did it go??? did two bites of a wolf destroy it? I thought armor was supposed to not disappear like tools?). So armor doesn't help. How can one deal with wolves? How many spear hits does it take to kill one wolf? How to enjoy the game and gradually discover next things without wolves ruining it all the time? I'm not looking to use mods. Thanks!
  9. Hey, I'm new to the game, I've been cutting cattails with a knife around the world, getting cattails and cattail roots. The cattail roots can be planted again, but then you have the same amount of cattails as before. Can you, like farming in real life allows, somehow breed cattails, increase their amount, harvest multiple seeds off one to get multiple cattails from one? I don't think I've seen cattail seed drops Thanks! EDIT: same question about berries actually!
  10. I tried but it says "no such setting 'swimmingMouseSmoothing'". Where should I type this? I typed it in the 't' menu (for chatting) My version is v1.19.8, on Linux Thanks!
  11. Hey, just got this game after seeing a youtube movie about it, hooked immediately However, while on land things are fine, there seems to be mouse lag in water, and this mouse lag causes motion sickness. Is there any way to disable this? Thanks!
