    Hey, I know this thread dates back a bit, but I just wanted to let you know that I've taken the mulching mechanic from Crops V2 by Emmett_chef and put it into its own mod. It does exactly what was suggested, using grass as mulch to keep the moisture in. Here's the link: https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/34989
