I have spotted the trap doors and looked underground. They are not there either. I've looked up what the berry bushes look like and cannot find any

Have I been really unlucky with traders, or is this a bug? I have started a couple of different worlds, explored for about two hours on each, and cannot find either berry bushes or an actual trader. I can find their new huts (about 12 discovered), but the traders are nowhere to be seen or heard.
