  1. Hello wonderful Vintage Story Devs, I have an OLED monitor and I play so much VS that I started to notice some burn-in on my Dell OLED monitor at the bottom middle where the hotbar resides. It would be awesome if you can add a transparency slider so we can make the hotbar somewhat transparent and help avoid burn-in. Currently I change the GUI size every few days but that is not ideal long term. Please consider adding this feature in one of your updates. This may be good for the mini-map so I can leave it where I like it and won't have to move it. Thank you for considering this feature. If this is there already I don't know where to find it.
  2. I ended up installing POP! OS after researching how well it performs for gamers and people with Nvidia RTX GPU's. I had a few Hiccups but got VS running good, thanks for the suggestions and comments. The fonts in the game seem a little different and the graphics slightly different but pretty darn good!
  3. Thank you @Lollard I'll try POP! again, It's been a few years, and perhaps a few others. I appreciate the time you took to write your thoughtful response. If I could toss you a temporal gear, I would Cheers
  4. Hey Vintarians, I'm a bit tired of Microsoft and how they are forcing everyone into Windows 11 which also eventually they are removing all ability to create local accounts. Because of this I am seriously considering jumping the Microsoft ship and defecting to Linux. There are lots of Linux distributions out there and I'd like to know the best one for reliability, speed, simplicity and compatibility with Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics cards for Vintage Story mainly.. honestly this is all I play now! My machine: Dell Precision 7820, Dual Xeon Silver, 256gb Ram, RTX 3060 GPU. Looking forward to a few good suggestions though I am already considering: Nobara OS, Bazzite or Pop! (Nvidia edition) Thank you!
  5. OOps - I figured it out.. I had placed two books on the ground and for some reason they were emitting glowing dust at night... weird.. I already read..
  6. Also during the night in the rain, I am seeing an area where there are green sparkles coming from the ground in one spot only.. unfortunately it's high rift activity and I dont have armor yet and there are scary monsters out there... see this tiny screenshot due to 40kb limit Note: It is not lightning bugs as they move around also it is raining
  7. I was panning some bony dirt and then after a bit I was walking around in the water, I see these glowing green particles trailing me in the water. I don't have a temporal gear in my inventory that might cause this.. I'm on 1.21.RC2 Thanks
  8. I accidentally used some expensive Jonas parts to make this lens in my quest for night vision goggles; I too can't find a use for it yet
  9. I'm not sure I agree with the above assumed intention of Temporal Storms just being a storm we have to prepare for and just endure / survive. Why shouldn't we expect a silver-lining from the difficult experience? Vintage Story could be improved by making temporal storms a little more rewarding and interesting.. not just an annoying and disturbing pause in our productivity with a high chance of flax string and rare chance of temporal gears and rusted gears. Since VS is still a pre-release game, I'm hoping temporal storms are an unfinished event that will be polished more.
  10. Thanks guys, all your answers helped me settle down. I was hoping to somehow improve the large map update speed as that can take a loooong time to refresh as I have 345 hours into my current game and a lot of explored areas.. For a bit I tried to use auto-backup (ProtonDrive) to backup my game saves.. Pro-Tip: Do not do this live! It corrupted my game save and I had to repair it. Appreciate the thoughtful answers. I guess I'll stick with the performance of M.2 SSD for save games and the striped M.2 (3x512gb) for the game program itself.
  11. Hey there Vintarians, I have 256GB RAM in my dual-cpu Precision 7820 workstation and I'd like to squeeze every ounce of performance out of my machine and Vintage Story without reducing my video quality settings. I'd like to create a ram disk large enough to hold all the vintage story files and the save games and run it totally from RAM and I can afford a ram disk 128GB or larger. Has anyone else done this? If so, please share how you did it and if you experienced better gameplay and map updates (which can be very slow in a 300+ hour game save. Thank you!
  12. Yeah, I thought that's what I said, but I guess you made it easier to understand, thanks for that
  13. Or you can allow panning from lower section and let the sand fall on us
  14. Hello, I noticed that you can stack and collect wood and coal either from lower or higher stacks without issue, but for panning we can only pan from the top-most section of the dirt or gravel. It would be nice if you can allow panning from anywhere in the stack (for example if 2 blocks of sand or gravel, pan from bottom and the stack will lower like with coal and wood) Is this possible or difficult due to gravel fall mechanism? Thank you
