  1. Furthermore, a major release is very likely to break mods, and in this case, there absolutely are crashes when trying to use VS1.14 mods with the 1.15 pre-releases.

Some mods have already been updated for 1.15 - that was, as I understand, a large part of the reason for pre-releasing to begin with. But if it doesn't say it's been updated for the new version, it's safest to assume it isn't. If you aren't feeling quite patient enough to follow redram's advice, you can start by disabling all mods that aren't explicitly for the new version, and begin troubleshooting from there - but if even then it still crashes, you'll have to start from vanilla.

I found the process on the discord server. You place the piece/pieces to fire in a 1x1 pit and then holding grass place that in the hole until you can't any longer, followed by a couple layers of sticks, and finally one layer of firewood.

Edit: Adding quote of post this was responding to.

Thanks very much! I was briefly stymied as I tried to place an actual "Layer of Sticks" item and that didn't work, but I figured out that it was just loose Sticks.

Addendum: Will there be ground storage for shingles? That was perhaps the single biggest thing I was looking forward to being able to fire in bulk, but they can't be laid on the ground, so pit kilns aren't an option. I've tried with both blue clay and fire clay.
