Thank you, Streetwind! I will give this a try.

I suppose that could be the case, but the fresh install should have them already and it doesn't somehow.

It makes little sense that I can go backwards to 1.17.8 and the game runs fine, but do a full install of .9 and there aren't any playstyles.

Also, I try not to mess with files when I don't know what they do, so if I deleted any mods they would have been in zip format only (as this is how they come when downloaded). Anything that looks like it came with the game I wouldn't have deleted.

I have tried several things to get it to work, but it's just broken. For now I'm stuck using 1.17.8 which doesn't sound awful, sure, but there are mods I'd like to try and can't because they're new and 1.17.9 exclusive. That and a streamer I'm subscribed to has a server I'd like to join, but he's using the most current build, so there goes that.

When I first updated my files I disabled all of my downloaded mods and attempted to create a new world; just so I could run around and test a few things. It only got to the line where it talks about time and then stops. Nothing else.

So I figured a full install was needed and did that instead, now, NOW I can't even create a world. It claims there's no playstyles installed and that I need to do that first before I can proceed.

I'm sorry? There are playstyles in the 1.17.8, all I did was do a fresh install; where did they go in all that? Checking the game files shows that yes they exist, they are where they should be in the assets folder.

Deleting everything, restarting my computer, downloading anew has done nothing. The missing playstyles is the current most pressing issue as I can't even begin to make a world without them; though who knows if the game will load past that line about time once I do figure out what's happening.
