EDIT: reinstall, wiping all files, mods, trying on another PC, clean install, whatever - doesn't help. The only workable solution is the one above.
My guess is that logging to the server makes some change in a file which allows for further connections and downloads - but what change and what file...

I didn't find a fix but I assume it's to do with one of the Mods-After just trying Vanilla everything was fine.

We are running the same mods, down to sharing the same files. 

I'm running a few mods-But they work fine in singleplayer. The moment I try to join, my game closes out and I get a crash report. I'm not very good at reading logs, so some insight, if anything comes from the text is of use or context would be appreciated to help me fix this issue!
