  1. This is a small theory, but it started because it bothered me that the meteoric iron looks so different compared to the regular iron and steel. The meteor iron is white with flecks of gold, and it made me wonder: Are these meteors from the Rust World? It's mentioned in lore that the Rust World once shone with clean metal and gem stones, so maybe due to the current temporal instability of both the Rust World and ours, meteors from the Rust World are crashing onto our world, and those meteors aren't rusted because they never had contact with the Rust World's rot event.

Idk, just a thought I'm wondering if anyone else had.

It's neat in theory, but there's a reason you don't feed dangerous wildlife IRL. The last thing you want is creatures like bear and moose to get comfortable around humans and start viewing them as food. Prey animals like moose are especially dangerous, since they tend to be a lot more aggressive when they feel the least bit threatened; a large predator will tend to avoid a fight if it can, since an injury for a predator might mean no food at all.

Yeah that sounds about right. And doing taming similar to the elk way does feel better too. It's a good amount of effort for the reward of getting a companion creature, especially one that could normally be hostile. Thanks for the critique!

  3. In my head, there are two ways taming the various usually violent beasties could work.

    1. Just like the other animals through a long breeding process. You capture a male and female wolf, bear, moose, etc. and eventually a more docile generation will be made that you can put a collar on and it is now a pet.

    2. Wild Animal Reputation. Being able to leave pikes of meat, hunted animal carcasses, baskets of berries, or other desirable food items in areas that spawn wolves, bears, moose, and elk could make them less likely to attack you in that area because you are feeding them. And then once they like you enough, you can hand feed them and that's when you've tamed them.

Then, when they are tamed, they can do a few things for you. Bears and wolves can help hunt as well as help herd animals into pens. Moose and bears could be ridden like the elks can already, with the moose being able to hold more supplies than an elk. And they all could be put on a guard mode, targeting monsters and warding off any of their wild counterparts.

I don't have the know how to make any of this possible in a mod, and I don't know if there is a mod that does something similar, but I just think it would be a cool thing to implement into the base game. Let me know what you think!
