  1. Hello,

    I have been hosting a dedicated server and the server hangs occasionally on client connections.
    We have quite a lot of mods so apologies if this should go in modding forum I wasn't sure as it seems to be the game.

    when a client connects sometimes the server kicks everyone and the host pc loses cable internet access, the server does not crash to desktop and when stopped with a /stop command goes through waiting for UDP thread until it times out. The PC does not regain internet access and will freeze on shutdown or restart requiring holding the power button down to shutdown.



    Upon restarting clients can connect again fine including whichever client caused the freeze
    Logs are not saved because the server does not shutdown correctly
    After closing the server manually there is still a proces vintagestoryserver that can not be closed in task manager "access is denied"

    There doesnt seem to be abnormal behaviour in the logs, lots of overloaded warnings and its quite possible this is from a mod but I do not know why the UDP socket would be forced open
    The server thinks its fine and will tick through saving the offline world

  2. A Fine Vintage is an exploration-focused VS server that's still very fresh, and we'd love to see some new friendly faces! We're now in April after our first winter, and while some of us have settled, there's still plenty of uncharted territory out there (we think—hard to tell without a map).

    What Makes This Server Different:

    No map + soil gravity = you'll actually need to remember where you put things

    The entire world is islands separated by ocean—hope you like boats!

    Craftable maps/compasses available through mods, but you'll still need landmarks, notes, and a decent sense of direction

    Navigation is genuinely challenging, which makes finding things actually feel rewarding

    Getting Started:

    There's a town on the starter island that's open to everyone—crash on someone's couch until you have found your feet, set up permanently, or use it as a base while you plan your own island outpost. 

    Playstyle:

    Build with the town, start your own settlement, or become a hermit on a distant island

    Light RP welcome, 18+ community

    Minimal rules: no griefing, no KOS, don't be a jerk

    Optional RP Voice Chat

    Due to the difficulty of navigation if you have a group wanting to start an outpost you can have a one time teleport to one of the members, make sure your ready to set spawn with a bed!

    We've reached the iron age, built a windmill, and have boats. Two settler's have left to make an outpost, and there's a ghost tale of a ship lost at sea with a cargo full of gold... None of the story dungeons have been touched—plenty of of content and world waiting for expeditions. It's a great time to join.

    Hi all, here’s more info for anyone interested in the server.

    Server Vision

    Slower progression and exploration-focused gameplay

    Progress that feels like an achievement

    Minimal rules: no griefing, no KOS, and respect other players’ experiences

    18+

    Flexible on ruleset and server type depending on player feedback

    Play how you want: form a civilization or play independently. Conflict is consensual.

    World Settings

    Soil gravity enabled

    Small Islands and large oceans to encourage navigation

    Map disabled (Craftable Cartography mod adds a craftable map, sextant, and compass, but navigation will still require landmarks and notes)

    Current Status

    The world is currently a test world running as a dedicated server, I will look to change this depending how many people are interested. So far, the mods seem to work together without issues.
    Nothing is final, and I’m open to feedback on mods to add or remove.
    The two core features I’d like to keep are soil gravity and no map.

    I'm looking to start a modded community-driven Vintage Story server focused on slower progression, exploration, and meaningful achievement.

    No map and soil gravity add extra challenge, but there are plenty of quality-of-life mods — it’s not a soul-crushing experience.

    Play how you want: form a town, civilization, or play solo. Light RP, 18+ community.

    Mods, world settings, and setup are flexible.

    I want the game to pose a challenge, but everyone is welcome, whether you’re new or experienced.
