That doesn't exactly answer my question but it does sound like the answer to my question isn't relevant to anything, so I won't worry about it.
With debug details on you'll see a note like this on animals you've captured after some thing or another happens, and I'd like to know what that thing is, even if generation is the only thing that matters for domestication.
I have some goats captured in a pit trap that I am attempting to domesticate, but despite eating from a trough owned by me and producing kids, they are not marked as owned by me.
Does this actually matter in any way, and if so, what is the exact thing that one does with an animal to cause it to be owned?
