So I may have looked at the cobblestone recipe, and the automatically scrolling interchangeable ingredients were on fireclay when I looked. Thanks for curing my stupidity.

Fireclay is supposedly found in bauxite. Problem is, there seems to be nothing but claystone for miles. If I want to make it, I need a quern. To make a quern, I need a chisel. To make a chisel, I need hard ore and a forge. To make a forge, I need fireclay Is there something I'm missing? I would honestly love to get this step of the game over with.

As the title says, I can't find any variety of farmable crop. I've traveled pretty far. Doesn't help that I'm pretty new, so I don't even know what I'm looking for. Is there any specific direction I should be going, or do I just walk in a random direction and hope?
