While watching my crops freeze i thought about the orange groves around where i grew up, and how nice it would be to be able to spend like 20-30 clay to sculpt a smudge pot that will keep plants close to it warm, if supplied with firewood or peat.
its a strong effect, being able to grow in colder weather, but i think the cost of having to keep supplying it with fuel would be a fittingly expensive cost, if the speed of consumption was a bit lower than the firepits.
