I really love this game!

The survival mechanics are so enjoyable.
I can finnaly live out my creativity in the game.
It gives so many building block options even vertical slabs, and a built in world edit.

And the game is just so optimalised unlike other block games.

I hope they add:
- butchering (there are a mod for this but its should be in the game by deafult)
- aligators, Frogs, turtles and other reptiles
- painting (so i can use linen for canvas)
- chiselable doors, chests and chairs (because the chisel is already a thing in vintage story but only for blocks)
- rivers
- more wallpapers, windows, weapons (like zweihänder), astrology (connectable stars to make constellations and name them)
- wall painting

My apology if my english is a bit bad, im from hungary.

This game gets me excited about the mere concept of limestone or borax. It's probably the most satisfying game I've ever played; when you get your first clay pot or your first copper pickaxe, you feel like you truly accomplished something. The level of customization with difficulty and world generation are wonderful, and you can really cater the game to any experience you want. Don't be ashamed to play with keep inventory on... it makes it more fun!

Once you start modding, like with Rimworld, you never come back.

Finding this game was a breath of fresh air. I've been a fan of That Block Game since I was a young teenager, and Vintage Story gives me the same wonder I once felt when I was new to that game but what feels like a thousand-fold. I have been singularly obsessed since installing, and sometimes even when I'm doing other things I'm excitedly looking forward to my next project. I can tell I'm going to be hooked on this game for many long and happy years. I'm so excited to see where the devs are going next!

Any game with enough content to make me go 'Wait we can do this?" several times in an hour is a win in my books.
Stable and well made multiplayer. A dedicated server build that can run on a raspberry pi. Do wish the game had a better guide system, since I had to look things up multiple times (Not a big fan of text tutorials)

A Primitive Masterpiece
I wasn’t expecting a game about survival to make me feel this accomplished. Most survival games hand you a wooden pickaxe and call it a day; Vintage Story makes you earn every single scrap of progress, and that is exactly why it’s a masterpiece.

The Journey from Flint to Steel

The heart of this game is the progression. There is an unmatched sense of scale when you start in the Stone Age, desperately knapping tools out of flint just to stay ahead of the hunger bar. Moving from those primitive beginnings into the Copper Age, learning the intricacies of alloy making, and eventually pushing toward Steel feels like a genuine technological revolution. You aren't just clicking a recipe in a menu; you are learning a craft.

Untapped Potential

If I had to find a "worst" part, it’s honestly just my own greed for more. The game is already deep, but its systems are so well-designed that I find myself constantly thinking, "I can’t wait to see how much further they can take this." The framework is perfect; it just needs to keep expanding on the incredible capabilities it already has.

The Verdict

I have 27+ hours in-game so far, and I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface. I haven't "finished" it yet—if you can even finish an experience like this—but I am fully committed to the grind. If you want a survival game that respects your intelligence and rewards your patience, this is it.

Rating: 10/10 (Masterpiece)

Wanted to have something like Wurm Unlimited mixed with Minecraft and it delivered! Nothing will beat my nostalgia for Wurm but this game rocks and is special.

The lore is amazing, one of my favorite games of all time and reached easily a 100 hours way faster than I thought. I would say go as slow as you need to and have fun, it's definitely a journey and not a destination kind of experience. Proprietary modding is amazeballs.

I'm not sure what to say about this game that doesn't speak for itself. One thing I can say, is that I love this game with everything in me, and I'm happy to stick along for it's ride. :)

Before I go into why I only am giving this game three stars, I want to say that this is the most interesting game I've come across in a long time, and I hope it continues to improve. The mechanics that make up this game are pretty lengthy but still fun even after the fifth world. The game itself runs well, a bit heavy on the vram side if you make a large world. Although this game has amazing mechanics and systems of gameplay, how the world is currently designed heavily brings this game down for me. In an open world that can be millions of blocks big, there really isn't much to see. It doesn't help much that world gen doesn't do that great of a job of generating the world, even if you mess with the settings. Once you do generate a world you will notice that there are no interesting structures, buildings, or reasons to explore besides trying to find a specific ore or stone. There are ruins, but they are mostly just cobblestone blocks thrown around randomly and a few traders that are almost functionally useless. In an open world sandbox, you need tons of things to make your world interesting and engaging. I believe the world gen needs to be way better as well as adding real ruins and structures. It also would greatly benefit this game to add more and better npcs, including better traders. This game also has a terrible risk/reward system. Sure, there are natural caves in the world and one main dungeon, but why would I ever go there if there isn't anything to do or mine 90% of the time, but can house incredibly scary creatures that can three tap you with the best armor? There is no point, I'll just prospect then dig my own "safe" mine.

In short (before I go deeper into the weeds like most my reviews are) I find this game fun and worth the price I paid for it. It runs well besides aggressive vram requirements. I deeply enjoy the wide array of mechanics this game offers. I'm 300 hours deep and still hop on every few days, but the world is very shallow and empty.

It was a colossal pain for me to find where I could leave a review on this website. 4/8/26

This is an incredible and as far as I know unique Game.

The Detail of Survival, processing of Ressources, Depth and Potential of the Game are all amazing even in the Base-Game.
It already contains great Quality of Life Features like an Game-internal Handbook with quality Instructions of Ingame Processes and Mechanics, Crafting-Recipies and more.
The Devs are very active and are continously improving the Game without adding useless Features imo.
It is also very easily modable (from the Mod-User perpective) with a great Community and even Offical Servers.

Ingame Features like knapping, metalwork and taming feel great and I never felt "lost". There current physics with Wind- and Water-based mechanisation are awesome and I hope they will keep adding more great content in the future.

Even the first launch of Minecraft didn't give me the same feeling as launching Vintage story. After about 60 hours of gameplay, I find new mechanics and it's damn cool. Thanks a lot to Tyrone and his team for doing something like this. If I suddenly have money, I will definitely buy a support package.

I can't even imagine what will happen when the game is fully ready. :)

Pretty cool game tbh.

Definitely not for everyone, but I'd recommend giving it a try. It's TASTEFULLY difficult, which is something a lot of games can't get right. The mod Terrafirmacraft is either too difficult or too easy at times, and other games like Project Zomboid (Very different btw) get it right, but it seems like a lot. I've probably sank 20+ hours into Vintage Story, and I haven't made it past the copper age due to my own negligence. If you're unsure of the game, I still recommend giving it a try. The devs offer a generous refund policy (10 hours max of playtime for refunds), which is plenty of time to see if you like the game or not.

Personally, I'm excited to make pies. Pot pies, chicken pies, PIES. THIS GAME IS AWESOME.

(P.S. Bear pit lowkey the meta, especially in early game. Dig a 3 by 3 by 3 hole in the ground with block surrounding the edges, lead the bear into the pit. BOOM, free bear pelts.)

I have been playing video games for a majority of my life and can confidently say that NOT ONE has clicked with me quite the way Vintage Story has. The realism, customization, exploration, and variety of mechanics in this game have genuinely raised my standards on games as a whole. There is so much character and love put into every nook and cranny of the game that it left an impression on me before I knapped my first tool. The story (while unfished) was so much more interesting and compelling than I imagined it would be, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for it. The game isn't free of flaws, but the rate at which they fix bugs, add massive mechanics, and overhaul old ones makes the game (to me0 feel completely fresh not only with each update, but with each new world or server I start. Not to mention that the modding community for the game is active and adding some extremely impressive stuff of their own. If you're looking for one of if not THE best survival game ever released, try this one.

Increíble juego, por mi una amiga se lo compro y un amigo también lo quiso y se lo regale, hay que regalar vintage story a todos es un juego demasiado bueno como para que solo unos pocos lo jueguen.

I am obsessed with this game. Like... chronically so. I've been looking for a survival game like this for a LONG time, but everything else is zombie survival, and Minecraft modding is great but has its limitations and requires maintenance on my part. But this? This is EVERYTHING I've been looking for in a survival game!!! My PC is average, but the graphics are gorgeous and give me no lag, even when there's lots of particles. Making everything I need from the ground up like I would in real life is so addicting. It's grinding with a purpose, and with a tangible result at the end. Hunting is so immersive that I feel like a real hunter-gatherer. I have to actually strategize how I'm going to catch an animal instead of just walking up to it and murking it instantly. I have to plan for the future (read: winter), which makes it all the more immersive. I can't wait to see what else I'm going to discover as I keep playing this game. Five stars is not enough. askdhfaljdghajldhfadjlfhaldjghaljk I love this game!

This game is a jewel.
As someone who loves building all kinds of architecture in that one popular voxel game about mining and crafting, this game's chiselling mechanic, with it's nearly endless possibilities, was a revelation! The intricacy and amount of details you can put into your buildings is amazing. I also really enjoy all the things you can put down in your house, instead of having it all stored inside chests. It creates lively and vibrant places that actually feel like someone lives there.
The crafting is very engaging and demands travelling to find a lot of different resources, which can sometimes become a bit of a drag if you can't find certain resources you need.
The atmosphere this game creates is astonishing. The weather mechanic is gorgeous, the thick clouds, the sun rays, fogs and sandstorms all add so much immersion. I love the wind mechanic, the sound of the winds and the way all the bushes, trees and particles react to it is just beautiful. I love crafting inside my house while listening to the rain drops pattering against the window panes.

I love this game dearly and I can't wait to see how this game develops in the future!

Wonderful game! The mechanics are engaging, I've encountered very little bugs, and it can be extremely difficult if you want it to be, or a peaceful sandbox experience. If you are a fan of hard survival games or sandbox block games, you'll love vintage story!

Now it is very easy to compare Vintage Story to Minecraft, but other than the blocks and crafting, they are nothing alike. At first I thought, “oh just another Minecraft clone,” but as I looked into it more, I became more aware of how different (and hard) this game is. So I bought it and honestly, I simply cannot go back to Minecraft now. Vintage Story is just so much more in depth and complex in all areas, and much slower to, this made me slow down and recognize that in this game, you start out as part of the wildlife, helpless and running for your life. But as you progress, you begin feeling more confident, even something as small as killing a chicken feels like a huge victory, breaking each voxel to create a knife, burning firewood into charcoal, getting your first copper tools, all taking hours each to complete, you feel accomplished and proud of yourself. I’ve only played for about five hours now, but those were some of the best I’ve ever had. This is all that I’ve wanted in a game and more. Thanks for taking the time to read my comment; I hope it has convinced you to buy this game.
