Valhal Posted December 8, 2023 Report Posted December 8, 2023 (edited) Firstly, I do not know how feasible this suggestion even is, if it's unrealistic, or if it has been suggested before. So, if any of those are the case, just let me know and that'll be the end of it. The other day I was thinking about bear and wolf aggression. As everyone knows, they're true menaces in this game. In real life, most bears and wolves would want to avoid you unless 1) you got really close to them (perhaps within 6 blocks, for example, which is roughly 6 meters or 20 feet). Hence, as a default, I think most bears and wolves should only aggro if the player gets within that range. And 2), a major exception to all of this would be if the bears or wolves are hungry. Hence, it would be really cool to see bears that are normal or well fed tend to only be defensive in close proximity, while bears and wolves that are low in entity weight would actively chase the player on sight. This would add a high amount of realism, and it would also help balance the over-aggression of bears and wolves that many players have voiced. Again, I am not sure how reasonable or realistic that is. I understand that changing AI based on an entity's weight might not be as easy as it sounds, but I just wanted to put that out there. Bumber Posted December 9, 2023 Report Posted December 9, 2023 (edited) Lore wise, wolves are specifically more aggressive now than they were before the incident that caused temporal instability. The Ambush tapestry lore mentions it. I don't think it's connected to the Rot (which has probably been resolved as far as spreading goes,) but rather they're really displeased about the intrusion of the rust world.
