server spawning point issues

So my husband and I started a new save and we spawned in.  I was in the regular area for temperate and he spawned in the southern hemisphere in fall.  I wonder what could cause this.  We restarted again and same thing.  So I had him teleport to me and we are playing in the normal temperate area.

You might have set the spawn radius to smth like 5000 blocks

I like to set it to 0 when playing solo or with 1-2 people.

I have it set to 25 blocks.  This is happening when we first start the game not when we die.   I spawn in around the normal position for temperate around 47 degrees lat and he spawns in on 83 degrees lat or in the southern hemisphere.  I have searched and searched but can't figure out why.  Guess he needs to just teleport to me and set his spawn near me.
