I had an error in my config json and fixed it. My husband and I are spawning more reasonably close together!

Does it give you back all your materials or just some?

How far should you be spawning apart from the other players on world spawn? Is there a way to set that when you set up the server so that everyone spawns in the same chunk?

I have it set to 25 blocks. This is happening when we first start the game not when we die. I spawn in around the normal position for temperate around 47 degrees lat and he spawns in on 83 degrees lat or in the southern hemisphere. I have searched and searched but can't figure out why. Guess he needs to just teleport to me and set his spawn near me.

I went with 512k world with 25k polar distance.. how can I make the mountains not so tall. Seems this map has a ton of mountains at the start. I'm sure that is random but I don't care for huge mountains. Which setting will adjust that?

I did know that the equator distance was going to make the biggest difference but I was thinking just a smaller map in general. Will that be easier for say a server or even a potatoe computer? My computer isn't a potatoe but was wondering about that. I mean I will never get to the rest of the world at 1 million so I was thinking smaller might be just better for saves and what not. Thanks for your help.

I don't actually want a tiny world. Just smaller so I can see more of the world without walking 50k blocks. Are there any drawbacks to going lets say to a 100k or 256k world? I wonder how far you would put the polar distance with a smaller world. Anyone? Thoughts please.

I'm not sure if sheering sheep is in the base game. I know there was a mod with animals but I don't think it is updated. Any mods working for current stable that add more animals that you can breed/domesticate?

I find quite a bit panning at night when I'm not wanting to be out with the monsters in the dark. I pan sand and gravel and find more in that than the boney soil.

I was smithing a pickaxe and hit the wrong spot and had to use another ingot. Could I have picked up my work and got all my materials back to start again? I'm not sure if I'm understanding this correctly. Thanks!

/worldconfig temporalGearRespawnUses [-1 .. 9999] The temporal gear allows you to set a spawn point. Here you can configure how often it can be used for respawning at the set point. -1 means infinite (default: 20) I got this from the world configuration page. So you can change it after.

Thank you thank you thank you, I had no idea you could do a command to see the terrain info for the chunk. How big is a chunk?

Probably wise to do a basic build in an area and give it a bit to see if you are in a wolf/bear spawn area. I haven't had this issue yet but now I will be thinking about that before I set up a chicken farm.
