RollForWizards Posted January 17, 2025 Report Posted January 17, 2025 Anyone able to tell me why this keeps happening on an import? Nothing I change fixes the pink (which I'm pretty sure is the sign of a missing texture, isn't it?). I'm pretty new here, so please bear with me. I've noticed this on the cleaver, all three hares, and any baby animals. It doesnt happen to the full grown wolf, and the elk is shiny and reflective on import. If someone can point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful.

Generally missing textures appear like this: I am not very well versed with the VSMC and haven't come across this particular issue, so I don't think I can be of too much help. Judging from the textures I suppose you set up the Texture Base path correctly. All shapes you mentioned work on my end as well, so it most likely a problem with your shape files or the VSMC install. Are you on the newest VSMC version? https://github.com/anegostudios/vsmodelcreator/releases/tag/18Sep2024 Edited January 17, 2025 by Brady_The

The missing textures that you showed happens to me with just the Elk; I'm not sure what the deal is with the Pink textures, then. I suppose I can try to reinstall everything.

I misremembered. The pink colour is displayed when the UV mapping is out of whack. It shouldn't happen on a freshly imported shape, though. What game version are you running?

You think thats it? Also, is there a guide somewhere for how UV works?

Also, is there a guide somewhere for how UV works? I figured out your problem. You probably imported the rabbit after opening or creating another shape which has its texture size set to (most likely) 16. The hare in your example has its texture size set to 32. This leads to the texture size of the rabbit being adjusted to the size of the original shape and to the misaligned mapping you experienced. Changing the texture size of the hare (or any other shape with this problem) to its appropriate size via Project > Texture Size should fix this problem. Spoiler 32x32 should be the max size for any Vanilla shapes you use, but to make sure, you can simply open any shape with a text and code editor of your choice and check sizes: Edited January 17, 2025 by Brady_The

Project Texture size changes the object I have selected, or the entire thing?

You can choose which texture to resize. If you look at the screenshots in the spoiler, you can see that all textures included in the shape are listed. You have to find the one you want to adjust and edit the values.

My last question is, where do I point the default path for Color config? 1

Color config is not something you have to use. It's a VSMC feature to make navigating complex shapes easier. There's a short explanation all the way at the bottom of the VSMC release link I posted in my first comment (https://github.com/anegostudios/vsmodelcreator/releases/tag/18Sep2024).

I've apparently stuck myself in a loop of eternal errors because I changed it, and I've no idea where the MC stores its preferences to change it back, so even an uninstall and reinstall doesn't help. I have to rename the assets folder to open the program haha
