Quite enjoying the build process using (creative mode) and learning World Edit (WE) as I go. As a builder in that other block game, I have found the build process in VS to be very rewarding and rather meditative. As an older gent (54) I have quite a bit of time on my hands therefore I tend to create buildings of significant size.

My intent is to design a series of schematics (once I learn how to take a schematic of course) for others to enjoy and give inspiration to those that may not venture beyond flat walls and a roof in Survival. These designs will eventually exist in a server that I intend to host for like-minded builders who simply like to build Medieval/Mystical builds.

The first building is this Gatehouse that will form the entry point into a large walled Castle complex. From here I will build walls, corner watch towers, various support buildings and of course a rather significant Castle Keep.

If there is interest, I might start to build on one of the Discord VS streaming channels but not going to blow my own trumpet. If there is no interest, I am fine with that also. I live in Australia so time differences may put an end to that idea.

This build was commenced in 1.19 and finished in 1.20.1 (stable). Even though I have used Creative mode the build has taken about 5 days as I prefer to lay each block individually as opposed to copy and paste using WE simply because I find building a form of therapy, being able to lose oneself in one's imagination whilst placing blocks, listening to music.

This is a great game and is now my preferred sandbox game for building. Thank you to the hard-working team of developers.

Would love to hear any feedback on what doesn't work for you and what does.

Kind regards,

The Old Relic.....

Welcome to the forums! Being a fellow builder myself, I'd love to see more any kinds of builders in vintage story.

Yeah, I can see your building experience in TOBG, and I'm very curious as to how you'll manage to switch building paradigm (if you ever will, but I doubt that it's even possible to neglect ciesel, and rather stick to tools like fences, "buttons" and their imitations) into the VS-one. Feels like VS is pushing into creating smaller, yet well thought out structures, opposed to build grand and massive in the other block game. Personally, I still didn't manage that — for bigger structures, that is. For me, shifting from TOBG to terraria and the other way around was pretty easy (after several years worth of intensive building in terraria, that is), but I can't really crack how to build in VS. I find that building here is really hard, but rewarding at the same time, as every aspect of this game.

Keep it up, and I hope to see more people being inspired by your hardwork into building something for themselves x)

Yeah, it very much resembles how I build in TOBG, the chisel component was obviously new to me. I thought I was quite clever using the chisel to make my stairs, before realising midway through this build that stairs were in the game already lol. Such a noob, haha.

i have never played terraria, sounds interesting. This chisel thing has enormous potential, I am big on detail and the smaller the better. I feel once I complete this castle build I might go and revisit some of the blocks I use and see what I can do.
thanks for your comment, it meant a lot.
