Are Clockmaker pets supposed to disappear?

as the question suggests, are Clockmaker pets supposed to disappear? I tamed a corrupt locust, told it to wait, logged out of my server and when I came back the next day, it was gone. No one else but a trusted friend is allowed on the server so I know no one deleted it without me being around.
