Classic vs. Homo Sapiens - Which is a better way to get introduced to Vintage Story?

Hello you people out there!

I'm a new player who's just starting out and I'm a little worried that learning the game while dealing with these monsters and temporal rifts may me a tad much for me.

Got 1 temporal rift close to my spawn and 2 others popped up near my first mud-hut and yeah that was a bit much, spawn temporal rifts always that often?  I'm aware that this game is supposed to be challenging but damn...

Would it make sense to start out with a (maybe custom) Homo Sapiens playthrough first to learn the basics and getting used to the game mechanics? I may miss the lore but being able to learn the game without being stressed out by otherworldy beings and the idea of being the first person in a world without any trace of other people (and monsters) is VERY intriguing to me.

Hello Mysterial, welcome to the game and the forum.

I'd personally recommend to play the standard mode, if you really want to have an introduction into Vintage Story. The game offers a lot of customisation options. You get to those by clicking on the "Customize" button in the "Create New World" screen.

I recommend having a look at the "Player spawn and death" tab, any option starting with "Creature" in "Survival challenges", and the "Temporal Stability" tab.

The vast majority of options can be retroactively activated on an already started world with commands. This might be a bit intimidating, so starting a new world could be the easier solution. However, if you don't want to lose your current world, you could have a look at the customisation options, select the ones you are interested in changing, their values and post them here. I'd be more than happy to look up the respective commands for you.

Thank you for your Insight!

I looked at the world settings for creating a new world and I think I'll play with standard settings but enable a grace timer for a couple days.

And thank you so much but please don't bother, I was just messing around in that world so I will just create a new one!

thanks again and have a nice day!
