aWolfSurviving Posted March 9, 2025 Report Posted March 9, 2025 Before you ask yes I double checked music was on. I even have it set to very often. Music hasn't played since then. I don't think I have any mods that would mess with the games music. Also when I load into a world instead of the long beautiful loading in phrases I only get two. No "it remembers all that came before" or anything, just "it begins, it senses"

No "it remembers all that came before" or anything, just "it begins, it senses" I remember helping somebody with a similar problem. It turned out to be an outdated mod, spamming the log files with error messages, completely overwhelming the game to a point, where it stopped printing the default messages. Upload server-main and client-main from "%AppData%\VintagestoryData\Logs".

Upload server-main and client-main from "%AppData%\VintagestoryData\Logs". There isn't a server-main. The thing is I installed the update for 1.20.4 the moment it released and it's STILL not working with the sound or those other things I mentioned. Should I just reinstall or is one of my mods messing something up? Because the mods I have so far don't have a newer alternative. client-main.zip

There's definitely something very messed up with your installation. You got over 2000 errors related to sound files. Plus 946 errors from the koboldplayermodelport mod, which most likely explains your trouble with the loading screen flavour text. I would recommend a complete re-install of the game (including the deletion of the installation directory, which by default should be "%AppData%\Vintagestory". DO NOT delete "%AppData%\VintagestoryData"; this directory contains all your settings, saves, mods, etc.). I also would recommend not using koboldplayermodelport until it has been updated to game version 1.20.4. If you really need that mod, you could also install game version 1.20.1 instead. According to the mod page, this version should be compatible. I am not an MP-guy, so this might restrict you from playing on certain servers, I don't know how the inter-compatibility between game version 1.20.1 and game server version 1.20.4 looks like. ALRIGHT So I reinstalled the game but I did not remove the kobold mod yet. I did get my music back though. Should I still remove the kobold mod?
DatDot1337 Posted March 13, 2025 Report Posted March 13, 2025 I think you should be fine to keep using it, as worst case scenario you keep having problems and you can just remove it, as I am pretty sure the kobold mod is just a model change, so it shouldn't cause any problems once it is gone. Besides from what I understand all you lose is the words during world loading, and you don't see those often or for long. If you are really worried about it you can always message the mod creator.
Dark Thoughts Posted March 13, 2025 Report Posted March 13, 2025 Don't get me wrong, I still do use some outdated error throwing mods as well (Wildcraft Trees, mostly). But if a mod throws literally 2.6 million lines of error spam into my log, bloating it up to almost 55 MB in size, then I'd sure as hell would remove that mod. Because at that point you could not even reasonably find any other issues that you may be looking for inside of it.
