Evoken Posted March 29, 2025 Report Posted March 29, 2025 Sorry for newbie question. Is it safe to update mods on existing worlds? I'm currently on 1.20.6 and too scared to update to 1.20.7 because of mods. But some mods get updates without the need of updating the Vintage Story itself. Is it safe to update mods when they get minor updates/fixes? ^^
Never Jhonsen Posted March 29, 2025 Report Posted March 29, 2025 General answer is yes, it is safe to update between small releases without updating mods. Small updates (such as 1.20.x to 1.20.x) shouldn't break mods. I personally only update my mods on major releases, such as between 1.19 and 1.20. The mods I installed on 1.20.0 are still working fine with 1.20.7. Not to say it can't happen. I'm sure it could, but it's rather unlikely. 1

I was asking also because one mod in particular - Expanded Matter just got updated and in the changelog it state that the game needs to be atleast 1.20.6 version. It was a small update so I was wondering if other mods could easily break something in my world when in the future I would update them. I don't know how it works in this community. Is there always a warning when a modification gets an update that requires a newer version. But anyway thanks for answer ^^ I see that i can atleast update the game itself without worries. 1
