rainymum Posted April 28, 2025 Report Posted April 28, 2025 I'm relatively new to Vintage Story and after a rough experience on a Standard playstyle world have switched to an Exploration world till I learn better how things work. With the creature hostility set to "passive", according to this screenshot of the playstyle settings, creatures will still attack when provoked. Up until now, I have only attacked monsters/supernatural creatures in daylight, and they never fight back. I assume this is intentional. However, I recently went into a cave for the first time and was attacking them in the dark. I geared up a little beforehand, expecting a bit of a fight. But they never fought back. Is this normal? I was planning on changing the creature hostility to aggressive when I was more confident, but figured a little bit of battle would help me warm up to it. If this is normal, I may change the setting sooner.
Solution V1ncent Posted April 29, 2025 Solution Report Posted April 29, 2025 https://www.vintagestory.at/forums/topic/14964-my-passive-playstyle/ Found some topics talking about passive play style. It seems the passive is no different from never hostile. More like a bug
rainymum Posted May 13, 2025 Author Report Posted May 13, 2025 Thank you! Will see if I can report the bug when I have the time, that is if it hasn't already been reported.
Lomesomewanderer Posted May 15, 2025 Report Posted May 15, 2025 On passive monsters never fight back (don't know if this is a bug or intended) but wild animals do. Bears, boars, etc will still fight you if you hit them.
