The program writes itself, using install.sh into the folder /home/username/ApplicationData/VintageStory/ 

This is very ... uncommon 😉 Normally I would expect a folder, that I specified (the one that I ran the install.sh from) (or /home/username/.local/share)
I do not know how much Mono depends on Windows-Filesystem structures, but I assume ... not a bit.
