Lexi Carter Posted June 9, 2025 Report Posted June 9, 2025 Hello I need some help figuring out what to do in order to fix my game. I had opened vintage story and had tried to update the game when it said I could not and then I canceled the download and tried to open up Vintage Story again. That is when it said there was an error and that the game had crashed. This is what my error said: Running on 64 bit Windows 10.0.26100.0 with 7885 MB RAM Game Version: v1.20.11 (Stable) 6/9/2025 12:26:33 PM: Critical error occurred Loaded Mods: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\carte\AppData\Roaming\Vintagestory\assets\game\lang\languages.json'. at Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeFileHandle.CreateFile(String fullPath, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, FileOptions options) at Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeFileHandle.Open(String fullPath, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, FileOptions options, Int64 preallocationSize, Nullable`1 unixCreateMode) at System.IO.Strategies.OSFileStreamStrategy..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, FileOptions options, Int64 preallocationSize, Nullable`1 unixCreateMode) at System.IO.Strategies.FileStreamHelpers.ChooseStrategyCore(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, FileOptions options, Int64 preallocationSize, Nullable`1 unixCreateMode) at System.IO.StreamReader.ValidateArgsAndOpenPath(String path, Encoding encoding, Int32 bufferSize) at System.IO.File.ReadAllText(String path, Encoding encoding) at Vintagestory.API.Config.Lang.PreLoad(ILogger logger, String assetsPath, String defaultLanguage) in VintagestoryApi\Localization\Lang.cs:line 103 at Vintagestory.Client.ClientProgram.Start(ClientProgramArgs args, String[] rawArgs) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientProgram.cs:line 180 at Vintagestory.Client.ClientProgram.<>c__DisplayClass10_0.<.ctor>b__1() in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientProgram.cs:line 130 at Vintagestory.ClientNative.CrashReporter.Start(ThreadStart start) in VintagestoryLib\Client\ClientPlatform\ClientNative\CrashReporter.cs:line 93 Any ideas on what to do?
Broccoli Clock Posted June 9, 2025 Report Posted June 9, 2025 From looking at the message, and how it came about, the first suggestion would be to do a complete uninstall, grab the recent exe from the client area on this site, and re-install. I know that's not the most exciting reply, you might find someone who has suffered similar in this subforum.. https://www.vintagestory.at/forums/forum/15-vintarian-support/
