Murklak Posted August 5, 2025 Report Posted August 5, 2025 I'm not sure whether it's a bug or intended behavior but as charcoal stacks and tumbles down, it sometimes pops into an item that can be picked up. I find this frustrating because I build rooms or alcoves to store my charcoal and can't fill them up. Instead, as I stack the charcoal, it pops in the back of the pile, near the ceiling, and I have to dig through the pile to reach it. If I don't, it will despawn and I'll lose materials I worked for. This means I have to fill, dig, and refill repeatedly until all the charcoal is piled up properly. Dirt also tumbles but doesn't seem to have this problem. If it did, each time we fell down a landslide, our pockets would fill up with dirt. I see two solutions to the problem. The first is to not allow the charcoal to pop into an item in the first place; I'm not sure why this behavior would be desired. The second is to have the loose charcoal items automatically stack themselves if they land on an existing pile or near one. Or, they could always do that regardless of their proximity to a pile. Whatever is done, placing charcoal in a pile should consistently result in that charcoal being in a pile, somewhere. 1
pwitty94 Posted January 10 Report Posted January 10 I have the same issues. Not sure why it behaves this way or if there is a way to control it. It's very annoying.
Entaris Posted January 10 Report Posted January 10 it's to simulate angle of repose If you just dump it all on one space in a big open area, it actually makes a really pleasing pile
Diff Posted January 10 Report Posted January 10 That's not the problem, the problem is that sometimes it spawns an item instead of a block. Items that can despawn. Don't think I've run into that problem myself though.
