Arasine Posted August 26, 2025 Report Posted August 26, 2025 I'm experiencing stutter, or very short freezing of the game after updating. In the whole time playing VS, I never encountered this before. Its generally fine for 10 - 40 mins, then I need to log out and back in again to fix the constant stutter / microfreezes. Nothing changed with my PC between versions and no issues whatsoever with other games. 64gig DDR5 5600 m 4070ti GPU 12gig Ryzen 7700 CPU I installed the requires .NET and there is nothing other than Microsoft services running in the background. Is this a known thing or any ideas please ? Thanks in advance (bonus VS tree fridge magnet my daughter made 1
Haley Lohrenz Posted August 26, 2025 Report Posted August 26, 2025 I was just ready to report this. My husband and I were on version 1.20.12 for the past week and had the most fluid experience ever and since creating a new world to try out 1.21, we get this constant stuttering (I believe it happens when the world saves as I see the logs which is very very often). Previously (I believe it still saved just as often), the stutter never happened. We tried restarting our computers and everything. 1.20.12 continues to be a fluid experience for us, but 1.21 stutters which is a shame because I'm LOVING the oceans!

Samuel_REDACTED Posted August 27, 2025 Report Posted August 27, 2025 Can confirm that a friend and I have been running into this issue, though it is only happening to whoever joins the other through LAN in our case, we can barely play the game together after 30 minutes due to micro stutters slowly become full freezes and crashes, host doesn't seem effected.
xXx_Ape_xXx Posted August 27, 2025 Report Posted August 27, 2025 Check your "VSync Mode" I had the same issues after the update, but they disappeared after I change the setting to Off Another thing to consider, since you have 64gb ram, is to turn off Ram Optimization in the config file Find "optimizeRamMode" and set it to 0 in you clientsettings.json file 1
Samuel_REDACTED Posted August 27, 2025 Report Posted August 27, 2025 I'll make sure to try this out later today, thank you. 1 hour ago, xXx_Ape_xXx said: Another thing to consider, since you have 64gb ram, is to turn off Ram Optimization in the config file Would this also be recommended for 32gb of DDR4 RAM, both on vanilla and modded?

Test it and see what your results are, as every system is different, there is no definite answer to this.

BeakstarRocks Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 Just adding to the list - also started getting stutters once I moved to 1.21.
DeddyFS Posted September 1, 2025 Report Posted September 1, 2025 Hey everyone, so I didn't get stutter per se when upgrading, but I did notice performance loss, dropped massive FPS ONLY in heavily forested areas. I didn't document my previous settings unfortunately but I did have to mess with my graphics settings after upgrading.

No stuttering, but major performance loss in forested areas. Which I live in a forest, that's my home I couldn't tell you what was causing it, but turning off the new clouds brought me back to 1.20 levels of performance

I tired messing with the clouds, what I noticed, at least for me was that when you first change cloud type, it gets rid of current clouds, instant performance boost, but after a while it would drop back down to 1/2 my normal FPS, I think what fixed it for me was lowering render distance slightly and going down a tick on the shadows. Still looks good though visually so I can't complain, just thought it was weird, I wonder if something was changed in the trees. 1
